Episode from unknown series help???

Hello, I have a vague memory of a show from my childhood when on vacation in England in 1989.

The episode I remember was of a man who invented a machine that could record his dreams. One of his dreams involved huge house flies that were seeking revenge on him for all of their "friends" that he had killed over his lifetime. For the life of me I cannot remember the title of the show and would like to know if it is available on DVD. Thank you for your help.

Don't know - it's too late for Tales of the Unexpected or Hammer's House of Horrors, unless it was a repaet episode of one of these two. In 1989 we were still being fed on a diet of repeats so this is very possible.

The only thing vaguely similar I can think of is a film, Quatermass and the Pit (1967) that may have been on TV then. That had the dream recording machine in it, and it also had giant alien locusts but they were't flies and they weren't reeking revenge on anyone in particular.

Sounds like it may have been an episode from a series like the ones mentioned, and the writer may have been influenced by the Quatermass film??? But can't be of any more help than that I'm afraid.

A show called, I think, 'I Lovett'? Maybe? Or maybe that was later. Starring Norman Lovett, the stand up, who was in Red Dwarf.

Yup, that's the pilot episode of I, Lovett. Broadcast as part of the Comic Asides series in 1989. It's never been released on DVD, but the whole series can be watched via his site:
