Self-Publishing - Lulu and the like Page 3

Apparently not, but I don;t know these days. Where's Marc P when you need him? :)

I did think of doing some self-publishing myself (and hopefully will one day), but that was for the info I'd collected on my family history. Having ahuge family, I know there'd be takers.

Is your agent totally giving up on it?

I think I'm totally giving up on the agent to be fair.

I don't get a lot of feedback these days. Including not getting any emails back - so I take that as a "sign".

Would certainly agree with you Mikey about the Marketing. Which is why I want to do it now ( four weeks) if I'm going to - because their PR people are getting me Press about the show. It wouldn't do any harm to mention the book at the same time.

I'll have a loot at Create Space - if it's Amazon that has got to help.

Is the book finished. If so look into publishing it as an ebook to co-incide with the TV show, you have no chance of doing that in printed form because of the logistics unless it is a download your own copy kind of thing. I don;t know anyhing about Lulu I am afraid. But if the book is finished get onto Waterstones or WH Smith or someone and get an ebook tie in. If nothing else it makes a good new technology news piece that couls spin some PR. It sounds a little bit late but some out of the box thinking might help. Also - and this may sound silly - but a good title will help. What's it called???

It just needs finishing off. A weeks work.

My show isn't coming out for around 8 to 10 weeks. I'm one of the last ones.

At present the title is
"Everthing to lose" although I'm open for that to change.

I quite liked the title in the newspaper article.
"My hell as the 43stone man."

Regarding titles, most documentaries on this subject include the weight in the title as, for some reason, it seems to attract viewers.

I recall a recent "1 tonne man" or something like that.

So it might be a good idea (maybe) to have the 43 stone somewhere in the title.

Eveything To Lose is good, but isn't it also ambiguous? It could be about gamblers or someone losing their job, house, etc.

I feel that "My Hell As A 43 Stone Man" requires a prefix.

"Losing It - My Hell As A 43 Stone Man" perhaps.

or

"Everthing to lose - My Hell As A 43 Stone Man."

I think a more positive affirmative title would be good for the book. That is to say attracting readers who want to lose weight themselves Pitch the title so that it is about them as much as it is about yourself. Ask yourself the question why would someone want to read my story - and in answering that you might find your title.

Yeah. Quite like the the last one there.

Obviously I'm going to have my picture of me at my fattest on the cover as well.

Hmmm yes I see that side of the point as well.

Yeah, Marc P's right. (damn that man!) :)

Perhaps something resembling "How I Lost x amount Stone."

When I first started writing

I thought of

Half the man I used to be!

But that's isn't true just yet - I'm about six stone off that!

You can use these kinds of things as tags as well, or slogans on the book. The story of... etc

A WEIGHT OFF MY MIND

The story of how I shed 23 stones to become half the man I used to be but a completely fulfilled person.

Kind of thing.

Marc P is spot-on with what drives most people to buy something - what's in it for me?

You could try something along the lines of:

You too can transform your life
(How I lost almost half my body weight)

The titles suggested so far are very hackneyed. In my opinion, you need something a lot more dynamic.

'Kind of thing.'

:D

That was the title of the founder of weightwatchers book.
