Who are dirtier; men or women? Page 4

I have long 'tresses' and wash my hair every day.

I know a woman who hasn't washed her hair for years - yes, years.

It doesn't smell at all, looks shiny & healthy and I wouldn't have known if she hadn't told me.

I think women have a higher sex drive than men. Or maybe the women I know just think I need the practice.

The girls I've dated with really long hair say they can't wash it every day or it dries out. Didn't stop them from constantly putting chemicals in it on an almost daily basis.

Ah, I don't use any of them, I'm too lazy.

I have heard, although wasn't sure if it was a myth, that if you don't wash your hair for a few months, it will eventually clean itself or something.
But to get to that stage you'd have to live with DISGUSTING skanky smelly greasy hair for 6 months beforehand. Not sure it's worth it.

Apparently when you stop washing your hair for a while (I think it's 6 months?) it "cleans" itself. Which doesn't really explain a tramps hair but there you go...

I was just going to say the same thing. Long hair is actually a lot less hassle than short hair in a style. There's nothing to do but brush and wash it. :)

I think that's somewhat of a myth, but maybe Dr Tim can confirm it.

You just ooze pheromones, Ben. Learn to live with it.

I think you should wash your hair with just water, otherwise it would become unmanageable after a while, but using hair products would mask the natural oils and proteins.

My hippy knows all about this, but she's not actually brave enough to test it out yet lol.

I think on the whole women take greater care to smell nice. I often smell perfume on women just out and about, but never smell aftershave on men. That's proof then.

My hair, pre-chemo, was spirally curly and about in the middle of my back. If I didn't wash it every day, it became unmanageable. I just had to compensate by using really good conditioner.

In my experience of examining the long-term homeless (or tramps as they used to be called), it is not only a myth, it is total bollocks. Hair does not "clean itself". *shudders*

There's obviously a downside to over-washing one's hair, but compared with the other extreme... *shudders again*

Oh also I've read that people put talcom powder in their hair to soak up the skank?

I think just bloody washing it like a normal person would be less hassle.

LOL, yes.

Some new-age/hippy types also claim that no-one need use deodorants. Well, perhaps a small minority of people can get away without them, but I think people not using deodorant is far more of a problem. People can claim that "body odour is natural" and whatever, but by that rational so is smelling like a farmyard, shitting behind a bush and dying aged 40 of infections which would be prevented by antibiotics.

"Natural" things are sold as somehow better, but don't always believe the hype.

I used to work with someone who use to rub a crystal in their armpits instead of using deodorant, because they were worried about their health (despite smoking). I used to burn a lot of fragranced oils in that office. That was another crap job I had.
