I wouldn't 'online date'. I'd rather the other person had met me in the flesh before we dated. They could be terribly disappointed otherwise...
Quote: Renegade Carpark @ October 11 2009, 1:59 PM BSTHere's the funny thing, even though a woman rarely gets down on one knee and proposes, they do all of the ground work to ensure that it does happen. Very few women are properly shocked when they get proposed to.
So does that make it a good thing or bad thing when the woman does it?

Gawd yeah, imagine if you saw that disppointment on someone's face when they met you, that would just be horrible.

When I said I was getting you some Matchboxes to play with, I didn't mean the cars

It makes it a bit artificial especially as the romantic aspect is supposedly derived around a spontaneous display of emotion and a decree of ever lasting love.
The biggest problem with women pressuring men for marriage and babies, is that a few years down the line, they break up and lives are ruined. Most women (not all) are social conformists - if all of their friends are married and have babies, then they want to fit in with the group. It dosen't help that the rest of the group puts pressure on the woman to conform.
The number of women who say 'My God, I'm nearly X years of age and I'm not married and don't have a baby' is considerable.
Of course, men have no feelings are totally marginalised in these situations.
I think a good sitcom would feature Dolly and Renegade living in the same house. Perhaps looking after an errant teenage boy.

I meant when they actually propose instead of the bloke.
No, is it a good thing if the woman proposes, Renegade. I think Dolly meant.

You wanna play the 'boy'?

Ahem. Sorry. I'll stay out of it.

Yep, that one.
Did you do the proposing with Mr Dagger, Dolly?

Not to just be deliberately contrary (honest!), in my experience of my friends' relationships, it's been the male who was all keen to get married and commit and settle down. Not the female.
But maybe the generations are different. Dunno.
Quote: Ben @ October 11 2009, 2:24 PM BSTDid you do the proposing with Mr Dagger, Dolly?
Yes. Lots of people think that's a bit sad.

You're sure these are men you're talking about? They have a penis and everything?
