Peep Show - Series 6 Page 38

I loved Big Suze's 'Crash' line - she said she did a play of Cronenberg's 'Crash' (1996) in series 5 ep 1 and now she's auditioning for a play based on the 2004 film of the same name. Laughing out loud

Another great episode.

However Johnsons accent has definitely changed from Series 1. Go back and watch it and compare it to now.

I recognised some re-used material in this week's episode. Mark talking about middle class slang originally appeared in a sketch from the first series of That Mitchell and Webb Sound.

Not the first time I don't think. I seem to remember seeing a few things shared between the two shows in the past.

I feared the 'jumped the shark' moment for Peep Show was the dog eating episode however I think it has recovered well, and I reckon this series may be nearly as good the first two.

Ronnie, you've edited bits from two different paragraphs from my previous post to make a quote, without making it obvious that you have done this. I know this isn't Hansard but please make it clear when you've edited someone's comments before quoting them in future, mate. ;)

Loved the laugh she made while agreeing that she was type cast as a whitey.

Considering material in both shows has been written by Mitchell/Webb/Bain/Armstrong over the years, it's not really a mystery, is it? Not being an aficionado about That Mitchell & Webb Sound the material was new to me, so not bothered. :)

it does confuse me when before a new series of a really good show airs the doom-mongers appear predicting that the new run will prove the show's "jumped the shark",

Firstly, why would you predict that the glory days are all over before even seeing the new series? And secondly, it's as though some people are hoping to be disappointed. Almost like they're fed up of finding the show funny and can't wait to bury it.

I would agree with this. Also, even when people are saying how good an episode was, they feel this need to raise the two minor points they didn't like; and it will be these minor quibbles that take up two thirds of the post. It baffles me. Maybe we just like a moan? :D

Anyway, So far I think this has been a great series, I'd say it's a step up from series five, personally.

Great episode overall. Episode one still feels a bit weird and off to me. I've watched a few times now to see if I'd get used to it but just can't.

Episode two has been my favourite so far and one of the funniest episodes of all the series.

There're still points where Mark doesn't quite seem right but Jeremy has been consistent.

Elena's been a great addition, really enjoying some of the dumb things she says now and then when she gets clichéd phrases wrong like "What you don't know makes you stronger". Haven't noticed anything weird about how she delivers her lines, if they sound awkward I assume it's on purpose. She really suits the shows format of shooting 'up close' with those eyes.

Dobby continues to be charming as well. Even though Mark keeps screwing things up with them I get the impression she'll be sticking around similar to how Sophie was 'off and on' with Mark. Speaking of which, shame that Sophie has been reduced to just a nag at this point.

I discovered That Mitchell and Webb (*) after having seen Peep Show for years, but yes wasn't too surprised. It's just when you've seen these episodes so many times that sort of thing really sticks out.

Suze was unusually funny this episode!

Was it just me or did there seem to be a Microsoft placement in this episode? First Johnson defends Vista which of course is a joke considering it's reputation but then he gives credit to the three amigos with I believe Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

Wouldn't actually think they'd do something like that but still a little odd.

Possibly also an in-joke, given David Mitchell is a PC?

But surely the fact that it's Johnson extolling the virtues of Microsoft products is a bit of a backhanded compliment (to say the least)?

I suppose technically, it was a form of product placement, regardless of intentions.

Every bit featuring Johnson last night was so funny.
'Did you make my bed Mark?'

Audience figures:

Rude Tube: 1.70 million
Peep Show: 1.60 million

Who are the 100,000 people who, when Rude Tube ended, thought to themselves: my night can't get funnier - bed time for me!

Staggering.
