A Bucket of French & Saunders Page 2

I agree.

If they'd actually SHOWN any sketches, we could properly judge whether they were still funny.

But all we got was tiny bits of sketches. Useless.

It could have been really good as well.
And I quite liked some of the Joanna Lumley bits.

Yes, I like her bits too, corr, cracking bit of crumpet that one.

I have to say French and Saunders have always been a blind spot for me, never really found them funny (though did thoroughly enjoy the Happy Families series Jennifer Saunders did way back when).

For me they seem to take a joke, to it's funny conclusion then past it so it's not so funny anymore, just my opinion anyway. I tend to avoid there series when they are on,

You're right dannyjb1 - I couldn't put my finger on it until you said it, but that's the problem - they don't quit a sketch when they're ahead nowadays - instead they grind on with it until it is no longer remotely funny.

In my opinion French and Saunders were funny (not now though... just shouting isn't funny) but somehow this Bucket O' French and Saunders has managed to ruin even those classic sketches. The show has sliced everything up so much (or, as ajp29 brilliantly said on the last page... it's been "edited by an epileptic in a disco"!) that it's now almost impossible to follow. The sketches have lost their setup and context in the editing.

Still, at least Joanna Lumley was funny.

The spoofs on tonight's show look a little better than the previous weeks. They're on YouTube now...

Jennifer Saunders has never been funny in my eyes - shouting loudly does not constitute being funny (as has also been demonstrated in the IT Crowd).
