The Simpsons sort of owes a small debt of gratitude to Bill Cosby, as when he decided to end The Cosby Show (which was up against The Simpsons in terms of time slots) their ratings soared and it partially helped to keep it going.

It was in a Bleedin' Gums Murphy episode, where they showed him guest-starring in an old Cosby Show episode on TV.

A. None. Bleedin' Gums Murphy and Dr Marvin Munroe did die, but they were never popular.
(It's doubly sad that voice artist Phil Hartmann died a few years back, because that was the end of Troy Maclure as well.
