Hi Chip!

What you need is an avatar that clears up any ambiguity. Like, er, mine does. Errr

Is that better?

Hi Chip!

Hello Winterlight! There's a new William Boyd out if you're interested!

For some reason, your avatar's blocked on my machine! I can't see it! :(

So it seems we have a comedic double standard, rape is funny but only when it happens to men.

There was also "Rape an Ape" on Time Trumpet, iirc.

Of course, that ended with "Celebrity Rape an Ape", with Chris Moyles getting a pounding whilst dressed in a gorilla costume.

Maybe you're right.

Marc Peirson?

Everyhting is funny sorry but that just is the case. There are no special cases. Saying comedy can't comment on special cases denies it's very core meaning. Comedy is a crude blunderbuss much of the time, it's purpose to let fire on everyone. In a society like ours where rape is happening more and being prosecuted less. Anything that gets peoples attention is better than nothing.

Marc Peirson?

:D

Although I think of Marc Pierson as the new Dick Franis. But with serial killers instead of horses. And Marc probably writes his own books, rather than Missus P. And obviously Dick Francis sold shed loads.

That's true, but someone's always going to be offended if it's a touchy subject.

Sometimes I wonder where the old Sooty's gone and who this gramatically correct chap is!

So what? Being part of any worthwhile society means being prepared to be offended. It's only when you move onto actual harm that it's a problem.

I don't get offended, so I don't get touchy...
