People Who Don't Watch Telly

I must have met at least 10 people in my life who've claimed to never watching television. Spookily, one of them worked for the BBC and claimed she was too busy to watch telly! :O

When you go into their homes, they have a tiny portable telly hidden in a cupboard instead of a 50" LCD flatscreen dominating the space - freaks.

So the question is - how long could you go without television?

Not long apparently - Screens

I'd find it odd to not watch TV at night. Sure, there's the internet, but isn't that the same thing as TV?

People who don't watch TV or any TV shows are odd.

It's a large part of my family's life.

Do you hug the TV too, Andrea?

I have my moments where I want to, especially when all 3 kids are fighting and I put on an episode of The Tick and they are instantly mesmerized.

:D

I honestly don't watch much American TV with it being almost all crap. I do watch a lot of PBS and BBC America and cartoons with the kiddos.

But there's great American TV stuff! 30 Rock, The American Office, Entourage - basically all the stuff we whine about not being treated properly by British TV.

I think most of TV is crap. But there are some real gems out there. Don't think British TV is any better. Remember, we mostly get each countries best exports.

Although, to be fair. BBC can produce some awesome stuff, my favourites being the natural history and science shows.

And let's not forget The Wall.

Of course! :D

I've met a couple of people like this. Bleedin' hippies.

I didn't have a telly for 3 years once. Well, I say I didn't have a telly, I had one that would only play DVDs. Really, the only TV show I've sat down and watched with any regularity lately has been Mad Men. Other than that the odd Simpsons with me dinner.

I have the TV on even when I'm not watching it, I just like it being on as background noise.

I'm a bit like this, and I actually miss just vegging out and watching crap. As Leevil mentioned in another thread, bad TV often feeds the imagination and helps you develop characters and ideas.
