Some of my favourite scary films are by David Lynch

Agreed. The Straight Story still shits me right up.

It's his casting that has me interested. The bit in the trailer where he's about to get burnt to death, and he rips off his coat to reveal that familiar stripey jumper, is pretty cool.

Freddy is one of those characters that have become icons in popular culture like Batman. Might this be a Batman style revival on a horror scale? I hope so, the original few films were great. He's a true movie monster, and movie monsters don't come along everyday.

Funny story about The Straight Story. Guy in it had cancer and shot himself not longer after it came out...oh wait, that's not really funny, is it?

It might have been, if he'd missed. The Can't Shoot Straight Story.

Not.....as such. Would you like a sitcom on Radio 4?

:D

I've tried and failed to get one.

Oops. Me and my gob. Would a Console help? Or would that be way too, you know, (whistles to suggest effeminancy)? You know, what with us being 'lads' and that?

No.

No, I thought not.

Hate to sound patronising to our American friends, but perhaps The Boat That Rocked was a little too vague for a US audience to guess what the film might be about? Pirate Radio is pretty much a "does what it says on the tin" title.

Exactly. We know all about pirate radio, but 99.9% of the U.S. population has no idea that your pirate radio stations used to operate from ships offshore. Not sure about how much impact a film's title has on ticket sales, but the new one is much more attention-grabbing.

Pirate Radio is a much better title, imo. The Boat that Rocked is awful and clunky. Surely 'Rock the boat' would have been a bit better?

I've been following this movie since it started shooting and I'm very offended by the dumbing down of the title. Granted, not everyone DJ'd the way I did, but come on! Angry

Or how about "Worst Richard Curtis Film Ever". That would describe it perfectly for audiences. ;)

That's not a bad idea. Though people might confuse it with vomit inducing 'Love Actually'.
