Kenneth Halliwell was the boyfriend of playwright Joe Orton. Halliwell found it increasingly difficult to cope with Orton's fame (and his own mediocrity). Orton wanted to end the relationship. Halliwell ended up murdering Orton and then killing himself.

I have never understood why people hang themselves when committing suicide.
Surely they know that there are far easier ways and less painful ways to go..
At some point during the hanging, whilst you are still alive, a thought must cross the mind which says 'I f**king wish I had never done this now'.
