Peep Show - Series 6 Page 34

Well, what a great programme this is. Still top class after 6 series.

A very good example to all those who produce two series of a sitcom and then drop it, presumably based on the false standard set by Fawlty Towers of the 12 classic episodes.

I think this show will really jump the shark when it starts having really well known guest stars.

So far we've had.....

Rachel Blanchard ("Clueless")
Peter Capaldi (The Thick Of It)
Sonny Muslim (Tracy Beaker, The Queen's Nose, The 51st State)
Eryl Maynard (The Fast Show)
Geoffrey McGivern ("The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy" radio series)
Liz May Brice (Bad Girls)
Natasha Beaumont (EastEnders)
Tessa Wyatt (Robin's Nest)
Tom Chadbon (Casino Royale (2006), Casualty)
Vera Filatova (Lesbian Vampire Killers)

....and they are all not exactly really well known, so I think that this show will jump the shark when it starts featuring actors like Simon Pegg, Steve Coogan or Ricky Gervais.

I'm actually surprised that James Bachman hasn't been in an episode yet. He was a regular in "That Mitchell and Webb Look" which stars basically the entire main cast of Peep Show (except Matt King) and he has been in "The Mighty Boosh", "Saxondale" and "The IT Crowd" so Peep Show seems to be one of the few recent sitcoms that he hasn't been in.

Jesus, you're the shitting voice of Peep doom aren't you Johnny! :D There are any number of ways it could jump the shark, Mark could have a little alien character that only he can see, like in The Flintstones, for instance; but so far he hasn't.

I think the cast and writing staff are too f**king smart to let that happen.

He's got to find something to do with his time until Reggie Perrin comes back.

Peter Capaldi (The Thick Of It)

For the record, Peter Capaldi appeared in Peep Show before he was even cast in The Thick Of It. (It was his cameo in that episode which suggested to Iannucci that he'd be a candidate for the role of Tucker. Although quite a well- known screen and stage actor (and director), he wasn't exactly a famous household name when appearing in Peep Show.) ;)
