Once Upon A Time In Peckham - should it happen? Page 7

I see it as 'new'. TBH, I am quite looking forward to it. I am an avid fan of OFAH and really do like TGGG (even though parts are really bad) so chances are, I'll probably like this.

Bear in mind that Sullivan has spent 6 years on this ONE episode. Surely 6 years will make a difference. And also, people who keep saying John Sullivan has lost his magic - no he hasn't. Listen to the words, the jokes in TGGG and you'll find quite quickly that the scripts are funny (the Sullivan ones anyway), they just aren't performed in such a way that the show becomes funny. But at the end of the day I have only one problem with TGGG - Tyler. So hopefully I won't find fault with this - except the title.

Isn't it still a working title though?

I loved Only Fools and Horses, I liked The Green Green Grass so where does this leave me for third addition...?

Much in the same place it did in your previous dozen posts pontificating on the matter, one would imagine.

:D

I like Only Fools and Horses, I've watched it for years, never bought it on DVD although I will at some point.

The Green Green Grass is funny and I don't see it in the same way as Only Fools. Only Fools has elements of drama mixed in with the humour. The best example is when Cassandra loses the baby. It's extremely sad, then the next minute you're laughing again. Not many 'sitcoms' can do that. The Green Green Grass isn't written in the same way, though it is still a good sitcom. Just a harmless fun family show.

The idea of a prequel is good, but to me it would have to have the same mix of drama and humour that made Only Fools what it was/is. It can work.

Though the name is just awful. You might as well name it Kajagoogoo-fairycake-smurfin-moomin-bananarama-up-in-a-tower-block........i.e something just as unpronouncable and forgetable

Shooting starts on Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Chips (working title):

After nearly 100 posts about this show (and it's only just started shooting) it better be the cleverest, wittiest, most heart-warming and funniest show ever in the history of the world. Or I for one will disown OFAH, John Sullivan and all his friends for letting me down so unashamedly. Really, I don't know if I could ever find forgiveness for the BBC if I'm not 100% entertained, to the point that I can die a happy man. I've also promised my children that this will be the most important moment of their lives so far, so it's not just me you'll be disappointing, Mr Sullivan, it's my children, OK? Angry

*waits for show, expecting greatness*

Advice from one of the guides on the Writersroom website:

The audience very rarely needs to know much about a character's past or how they came to be in the situation they're in. How much do you know about the pasts of the Steptoes, Basil Fawlty, Del Boy or Blackadder?

Whistling nnocently

You hoping for some kick ass CGI and exploding helicopters?

Might liven things up a bit.

What if they got Nick Lyndhurst to play 2 characters? Rodneys dad(forgot name) and Gary Sparrow in the 1960s!

I presume this is the right place for this.
