Virtually all the comedians I know are atheists... Page 10

But mostly they're "cultural" rahter than "religious Jews".

The only outwardly well known US Jewish comic I know of is Adam Sandler...God help us.

You can spot the 'cultural Jews' a mile off, they have that Israeli 'Jew fro' - Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill, Gene Simmons from Kiss, etc.

Just off the top of my head, outwardly well known US Jewish comics I can mention are - Larry David, Billy Crystal, Ben Stiller, Mel Brooks, Sid Caesar, Mort Sahl, Joan Rivers and Lenny Bruce.

Oy vey! You're a crude, foul mouthed bunch, you Jews. :P

Larry David is an atheist. Lenny Bruce was.

That's where you're wrong, they're all listed here -

I think maybe you're confusing Jewishness the ethnicity with Judaism the religion.

I further think you're doing so deliberately.

I further further think you're confusing Wikipedia with http://conservapedia.com/

Now are we talking about cultural or racial identification as being Jewish?

Oh and bernard Manning claims to be Jewish.

I'm an athiest and a lot of my fave people in comedy are, but...they can be a real smug bunch of self-congratulatory f**kers. A little too pleased with themselves.

Quote: Kevin Murphy @ October 2 2009, 11:12 AM BST

Unlike most religious folk???

Well, smugness is a poor attribute for anybody, believer or non.

Oh and bernard Manning claims to be Jewish.

And Pakistani no doubt.

No Gwen Stefani still says she's American.

Claimed. He's in heaven now.

Quote: DaButt @ October 2 2009, 1:51 AM BST

I've noticed that most of the people I like don't talk much about their religious beliefs or the lack of them.

Also.

He's an unorthodox jew-he's a Nazi

"If there's a god, why did he make me an atheist" -Larry David

Tamsin Greig was brought up as an atheist but converted to Christianity as an adult.

I believe Sacha Baron Cohen is of the religious persuasion too, He was brought up as an orthodox Jew and still practises his religion. His missus Isla Fisher recently converted to Judaism too.

Across the pond, Chris Tucker's a born-again Christian apparently, and Stephen Colbert's a practising Catholic.

There'll be shitloads of comedians, writers, comic actors etc who subscribe to some sort of faith. I say who cares? Whatever gets you through the day. :)

I have no problems with atheists, agnostics or the religious. I have problems with fundamentalists of all stripes, however, and radical and zealous atheism is just as dangerous in my view as any religious philosophy. :)

This.

The Pope is aparently Catholic and he's freaking hilarious.

When I see him doing comedy jazz hands in his big red dress I piss my pants.
