Julian was rather good in How Not To Live Your Life though!
He was good. Although he was essentially just playing Julian. Only oilier.

Aw. If he was just playing Julian he'd practically be too shy to speak on camera.
Actors are bloody weird.
Sorry if this has already been covered I've skimmed most of the posts and can't see it.
How can he be sacked for taking drugs and then brought back a couple of months later presumably to boost viewing potential when the host decides to quit?
Maybe he wasn't sacked for drugs, maybe that was media bullshit.
Dunno.

So what would be the best line up?
I thought Noel was a good replacement for Bill Bailey. I think the best line up for the panel would be Team captins Bill Bailey, Noel Fielding and bring back Mark Lammar hosting!

Whilst it's nice to have a specialist music show on such as this. Personally I feel the time/money and slot could be used for something much better.
Obviously it won't be, but there is always hope.
Bringing back Lamarr in some form would boost the ratings again. That is if he's not dead
Maybe he returned back to the 50s? Check your history books!

As much as it pains me to say it, I agree.
Loved the Buzzcocks of old, but I think the show's dead in the water now. I'm not into all this 'guest captain/host' crap either. Fair enough you get some good guests, but I prefer to see a regular. Think HIGNFY suffered for it too.
From the 'Street Of Shame' section of the current issue of Private Eye...
'"Noel Fielding has been axed as team captain on the next series of Never Mind The Buzzcocks," revealed Sun showbiz columnist Gordon Smart in August, the day after sister paper the News Of The World "persuaded" the Mighty Boosh star to reveal details of his past appetite for cocaine.
"The Clown Prince had been signed up as a regular on the long-running BBC comedy panel show. But when details of his drug-taking emerged over the weekend, Beeb top brass withdrew the offer," Smart revealed.
Just under a month later, the BBC press office provided the customary coda that comes with any Smart scoop: "BBC Two's irreverent pop quiz, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, returns to our screens this autumn with a brand new line-up. Joining the panel this year as team captain, alongside the ever repressible [sic] Phill Jupitius, is Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding."'

Dunno.
I think that a BBC announcement said that it wasn't appropriate for a BBC personality, not just that the papers said he wouldn't be on.
...the ever repressible Phill Jupitius...
ffs
Would it be foolish of me to hope this is some sort of deliberate mistake?
i heard it was because he tried to grope gabby logan and she's married and he's not actually a comedian he's an alpha fail with residual boretism
Well, your guess is as good as ours, I suppose...

Ahhh... I see what you've done there. Very good.
