I'd probably come with a loud shout to be honest!
I think directors and producers should be above the law. Are you listening BBC are you? Are you?
*RC gets off the Eurostar in Paris*
'Bonjoir Monsieur. How old is your daughter? 13 you say? What's that? She's quite mature for her age? Good, do you mind if I Drug and Rape her?'
'Only if you're famous!'
*RC and French Dad laugh. 13 year old girl does not.*

In that instance it doesn't matter if the girl is 13 or 53.
Quote: Alfred J Kipper @ September 28 2009, 9:48 AM BSTYes if he'd done it in Spain or France I doubt if there would have even been much said about it. But he did it in America, Cailfornia I believe, which has old puritan laws on this sort of thing.
California is decidedly NOT a puritan state. Also, it is decidedly NOT puritan to have laws against drugging and raping a 13-year-old.
He knew she was underage.
He drugged her with the intention of raping her.
He fled the country to avoid punishment.
I have zero sympathy for the man. This isn't a matter of consent or how mature she looked or acted. A 13-year-old girl was raped and sodomized.
Hasn't Marc Bolan's wife still not faced charges for his death?

I would say a number of these assertions are unproven allegations at this point. Just because one flees from "justice" before a trial starts, it does not therefore make one guilty of anything other than contempt of court.
Then again, why should the issue of whether many of these "facts" are (legally) hearsay and media speculation, be allowed to get in the way of people's self-righteous moral outrage?

So all those Nazis who ran concentration camps during WW2 and fled from justice to South America were innocent as they never stood trial?
I find your reasoning flawed Tim 'I like raping' Walker.

is this another of those Tim Walkers? Shouldn't this be in Jane's thread?

Mr Polanski fled the US in 1978 after pleading guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with an underage girl. What's left to be proven? And do you consider it improper to be outraged if a man drugs and rapes a 13-year-old girl and then flees the country to live a life of luxury and celebrity?

To be fair to Tim, he has said that he can't rape as well as he could when he was a younger man. Still, Roman was 44 years old when he went a-raping, so there's hope for us all.
Has Polanski ever presented a vaguely convincing argument for why he feels he wouldn't have had a fair trial?
But over 30 years having to live in France? Hasn't he suffered enough?

It was the Judge's daughter?
Fine unconvincing arguments!
His evil twin did it.
He was posessed by Satan.
His good but misguided twin did it.
He thought she was Charles Manson and was getting his own back.
He thought he was plugging a hole in the Jacuzzi.
