Jonathon King though was never accused of rape, deceit etc. His partner was only a year under an age of consent that came into play 30 years later (at the time homosexuality was illegal).

Yes, quite. If you read what I say I was criticising double standards, not supporting them. That said, I really couldn't give a toss what happens in the case of Polanski. Why people are suddenly on a blood-lust for him I fail to understand. Presumably it's something you've all been campaigning about for years. 
Did he direct the version of Tess with Natasha what'shername (like Kaplinsky but not)?
