Frankie say Relax (2009 remix) - heaven or hell?

One of my fave bands of the 80s have a new compilation (their third) coming soon and a new wave of remixes coming out. The main one is of Relax by Chicane for a bit of 21st century street cred. Younger viewers may recognise the original used in the recent Virgin Airways ad campaign.

Seems to me that you can't improve of the original but this one aint so bad. Should it have been left well alone or is it an improvement? Either way, do you give a monkeys?

How many bounds do you know from the 80s?

I knew some bounders.

I was a teen when this came out and at the time it was a big deal. I loved the original 12" version and this doesn't add anything for me but if the young 'uns like it fair enough.

I miss 12" singles! I miss singles for that matter. Bah humbug.

I know no bounds.

It is a great song. Made me laugh when the girls at school had crushes on the obviously gay members of the band.

Bounds? What was I thinking? Corrected anyway.

I miss 12"s!

Jane P, you saucy little minx!

I thought it was alright Tuumble, and I'm all for re-imagining classics (I, controversially, prefer the Scissor Sister's Comfortablly Numb), but this didn't do much for me.

I was one of those girls, I think Paul Rutherford was my fave. Damn you George Micheal, you confused me forever!

What's the difference fancying gay celebs anyway, we were never going to get them anyway!
It's if you fancy real gay boys you should worry a bit.

I prefer the original single/12". My sister had their LP and I didn't like those versions at all.

Yeah, like John Barrowman he's a total HILF!

Ha, HILF. Like it!

I used anyway twice. :(

I was on the phone with a relative today and she said "On account of because..." It makes me sad.

Mike Read should have banned this version.

Actually, I've just remembered that I did my own 25th anniversary mix of Relax which may interest some. Look out for the voice of Chris Barrie in the intro impersonating Radio 1 DJ, Mike Read.

I thought it was funny that they really didn't twig that they were gay.

I remember seeing an interview with Will Young and he said that when he came out a little girl wrote to him and said he was very silly telling everyone he was gay because he'd never get a girlfriend like that.
