Looking forward to The Box, directed by Richard "Donnie Darko" Kelly and based on a story by Richard "I Am Legend" Matheson.
Ohhh, I beg your pardon, Curt. Didn't see this thread. Ok well I'll just post about films that aren't new out in mine then.
Sorry bud.

Thankin' you. Should've stopped and preserved it for a while.

Just go back and start deleting old posts.
But they're all so precious, informative and witty etc, it'd be like choosing which children to shoot!
The Invention Of Lying (Ricky Gervais) gets a slight pat on the back:

And a severe kick in the nuts:

So something for both sides of the Gervais divide there!
The Empire review is scathing, but the Chortle one is slightly damning with faint praise. I shall wait to hear Dr Kermode's opinion on Friday's Five Live before deciding whether to fork out to see this.

At least where I live, he's considered a God, so everyone's all stoked up about it. I'm being taken (dragged) to see it this weekend.
I have to admit that I have much higher hopes for Cementary Junction simply because Mr Merchant's co-written it.

Haven't heard of that, but it's just gotta be better...

It's more back on home territory, set in Reading in the 70s, apparently about insurance salesmen. It's got Ralph Fiennes in it as well, but beyond that I haven't heard much. (Oh, it was originally going to be called The Men From The Pru, I think.)

It can only be better than the real place. I have some un-fond memories of that particular part of town.

There's a big Prudential office in Reading where nearly everyone works at some point. I believe the company didn't want it's name associated with the film.
It's probably quite a dated reference thesedays anyway. The phrase "The man from the Pru" probably hasn't been used since the 80s. The only other thing I remember Gervais saying about this was that it was exploring an area and a group of people where the 60s/70s sexual/social revolution never really happened. That could be promising, as it would be back to more white collar Office-type territory.
