On the whole titles thing surely Bumboy has to be one of the best titles of any sitcom ever because I am pretty certain it will be one those of you who are going will most want to see (apart from Ponderer for obvious reasons).

I assume the obvious reasons are to see what sort of crap they accepted? Rolling eyes

I'd hazard a guess bumboy has nothing to do with anal sex, and that there will be no refunds.

Oh well rejected. onwards and upwards.

Its a bit of poor showing for the BCG forums. Thought we would have a few in the heats.

And after all this speculation about the title bumboys had better win!

Let's all get behind Bumboy! Angelic

How often are they doing this? One a year, or will there be another before then?

Oh, and let's hope Bumboy makes a splash.

What was the title of your entry Mikey?

Mikey Jackson Sitcom # 345

It seems like you need a good title above all else. Something to attract attention. Then send in your rejected ones under this new title elsewhere.

If you fancy exercising our skill with titles, remember there's always fun to be had with the Sitcom Trials' Pitch Fest, which returns for the new season.

In just 140 characters give us a title and a one line pitch and you can win some really valuable prize in every show. Twitter them with the hashtag #sitcomtrials

(On the night we'll probably use the tried and tested old familiar paper-and-biro Pitch Fest slips, cos the venue's underground, and even if your phone can get a signal we'd rather you turned em off).

Here are some Pitch Fest faves of old (from one show in 2001, found them in the archives):

Khmer In The Community - Pol Pot is a social worker in Neasden (winner)
Bob The Builder - cannibals play a Halloween game with workmen
Kiss Me Crate - a man enjoys sexual relations with a box
Mussolini's Eenie Muscles - Fascist dictator struggles to get fit
Wanker! starring Lloyd Grossman
Plankton Massive - about a family of plankton
A Bird In The Hand Is Worth Two In The Bush - starring Monica Lewinsky
Sitting On The Cock Of Will Hay - starring Hilda Baker

Bumboy is a very Pitch Fest title. Bumboy - a homeless schoolchild discovers he has superpowers. In his arse. #sitcomtrials

This sounds a bit like Thunderpants - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0283054/

Or Johnny Fartpants - or Felix and his Amazing Underpants.

It wouldn't have compromised them, gives producers a chance to see how your stuff works in front of a live audience for free. It would have helped if anything. Assuming the audience laughed mind.

Yeah, s'pose.
Ah well. Maybe next time.

The Pitch Fest has long served as a good example of how easy it is to think of punny titles and pitches - often the audience's suggestions have raised bigger laughs than the sitcoms in between - and remind us that writing the scripts is the hard part. Writing a few Pitch Fest entries can get that nonsense out of your system.

Barrack O'Bombers - Sitcom set in a military barracks where everyone turns out to be secret spies making bombs. With hilarious consequences. #sitcomtrials

When the Whistle Blows - a spit and tell account of male escort Harry Whistler's hilarious adventures on the meat rack.

Oh hang on wasn't that one of the other titles???

:)

Whistle Down The Wind - extrememe flatulence in a black and white Yorkshire village. Jesus, did you do that?
(a spin off series of When The Whistle Blows)
