60 Second Makeover

F/X: SHOW THEME TUNE

HOST:
Hello and welcome to another edition of 60 Second Makeover. Each show, a crack team of interior design experts get a budget of £500 to give a member of the public a 60-second home makeover. Today, we're at the home of Jenny Smith of Dagenham. Jenny, nervous?

JENNY:
A little bit.

HOST:
Don't be, it'll be fine. First, through to the living room. Adrian, what's going on in here?

ADRIAN:
This couch has got to go.

HOST:
Great. Through to the kitchen, now. Paul, how's it coming along in here?

PAUL:
Has anyone got a screwdriver? Hnnng! I can't get the lid off this – hnnng! – paint.

HOST:
Jenny, how do you think it's going?

JENNY:
It's great.

HOST:
Upstairs, now, where Barbara is in the bathroom.

BARBARA (MUFFLED):
Have we started already? Sorry, I'm on the loo.

HOST:
Okay, time's almost up everyone! Back downstairs, Jenny. Five, four, three, two, one, time's up! Everyone down tools! Jenny, what do you think of your new home?

JENNY:
It's lovely. I particularly like the way you spilled paint all over the kitchen floor. And, oh, look, you've put my couch on the lawn.

F/X: TOILET FLUSHING.

HOST:
So, thumbs up from Jenny! Join me next time for another exciting episode of 60 Second Makeover.

Totally undistinguishable from the original show. Well done :P

Never seen the original show, actually. But I'll be watching for James Harris's SCS sofas commercial in about 15 minutes.

This did make me laugh.
Nice one.

Good idea and very funny.

Is this for RFTP?

Is this for RFTP?

Why, do you reckon it would have a shot?

They've featured similar things in the past, but then I remembered that they've asked people to avoid parodies of specific shows this year. So, maybe not.

I think they're happy with parodies of show types, just not specific shows.

I liked the sketch but are you missing a recession angle with it as well?

True. I think RFTP had a similar prohibition for the non-coms too last time, now I think about it.

That said, this sketch is not really a parody of the show's specific format, I realise now that I've seen an episode (well, as much as I could stomach). It is parodying the title though, so maybe a bit too close to breaking the RFTP rules.

That's a good point!

As is that.

I don't think so, but even so do you have to call the show 60 Second Makeover? With another name and the same format it definitely doesn't break the rules.

It would still be an against the clock format though, so...

I don't know. It's a shame you can't ring up and ask.

EDIT:

Actually, Badge's suggestion could work if there are several 'against the clock' shows, but I don't know if there is - DIY shows scare me.

Me neither :)

Nice little sketch. Don't see any problem with suitability for the RFTP brief, but not sure which of the six themes it would fit.
