They don't fit in with the 'Whoverse' really, no. In the films, The Doctor is just a very clever old man who has a time machine in his back garden.

The films are big screen versions of a couple of the early Dalek TV adventures.

They're enjoyable in their own way though, I used to love it when they came on telly when I was a kid. They're colourful and fun.

I think they're both very enjoyable films. And for appocalypse fans, the one set in present day London overrun by Darleks (or present day when it was made) is great.

They were Verse, original series voz better.

P.S Did anyone read this rumour? The new series may be starting as early as this January

Bcause the last special is supposed to air sometime around the turn of the year, I imagine he just meant that it's a new era starting as he's finished and at the end Tennant becomes Smith. Might be wrong, but I'd be surprised if the series proper starts broadcasting as early as that. Very happy, but surprised.

I don't know. Fans have waited over a year for a return. And next year's the World Cup, which I believe England has qualified for, so TV bosses won't want Dr Who clashing with that. Might well be an early 2010 start for the new Doctor.

Good theory! That would make a lot of sense.
The NHL playoffs (hockey) are one of the reasons Doctor Who didn't take off in Canada they way it was expected too. It threw around the time schedule and fans had a hard time keeping track of it. Despite CBC's financial investment in the show even that wouldn't deter their biggest money maker: hockey.

Nah. They won't have finished filming till Feb/March. Not enough time to get the last few episodes ready in time.

They won't care about messing up the schedules for a few weeks of World Cup.

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet. But some pics of the 11th Doctor have been posted of him onset and in his new duds.

I like the new get up. I was worried they were going to go back to the trench coat and t-shirt look from the 9th doctor.

Just watched Blink - which is a show I've been waiting to see for quite a while. Thought it was pretty good - perhaps the best of the new series' I've seen, although I've only seen about 50% of them, so take that into account.

It was slightly let down for me by casting a 20 year old African guy (he had an African accent) as a police inspector. Can't imagine what f**kwit thought that was a believable idea. And he clearly was meant to be late thirties in the script as he was on his deathbed only 38 years later.

Also, the end sequence with the Doctor's exhortation not to blink over a montage of statues with their eyes uncovered made no sense whatsoever, unless it was just a crafty attempt to get kids to fill their pants.

I have to say though that this is the kind of episode that would resonate with you as a child, much like the 'classic who' did with me, and get the imagination working, so for that reason I was impressed and a bit glad.

Did you not see Silence In The Library Godot? I think that was one of the best Whos I've seen in a while, better than blink imo.

I did see Silence in the Library, Moon, and I thought parts of it were good, although I dislike the sentimental and romantic aspects of Moffat's writing. Blink is visually stronger and that is the dominant factor for making memorable children's TV in my opinion.

I also liked the Unquiet Dead and a few others - Dalek. But Blink I'd been waiting to see for a long time.

I think that was the idea - I thought it was ace! I've seen the episode several times now and it still grips me. It's probably my favourite of new Who.

Godot criticising Dr Who for lacking gritty realism is like criticising Dave Cameron for having no pubes.

It's innocent, unrealistic and has to appeal to cretins.

Just like Dave Cameron.
