Hancock or Steptoe?

Two popular series, both written by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, but for me it's Steptoe that is the best of the two.

Anyone have a different opinion?

Hancock.

Could not possibly choose.

Steptoe.

Although Hancock was good too but Steptoe is just that little bit better for me.

Both good but Steptoe edges it for me.

Steptoe. For personal reasons the series has more resonance for me, but I love the characters and their interactions. So sad and so funny.

Hancock, I've always found it hard to laugh at Steptoe, even more so since I found out Harry and Wilfred didn't get on in real life as well.

Has to be Steptoe And Son for me.

In terms of sheer number of laughs, it's Hancock. But for a continuing storyline with characters you really care about, then Steptoe is the overall winner.

Wouldn't really want to compare two quite different shows, but I'd opt for Hancock because it had more variety, pushed the boundaries of comedy (especially on radio) and simply because Tony was one of the finest comic actors that ever lived.

I think in it's day Hancock had more of a cultural impact.
People rushing home to listen to it on the Wireless each week.

Was the Harold Steptoe character originally written with Tony Hancock in mind?

Let's see.

Which do I like best.

Fish cakes or Aerosmith ?

You've been grumpy recently, oldrocker. Any particular reason?
