I've been to several and maybe I've been lucky but I've never felt forced to laugh!
There's usually a good atmosphere and the cast (appear) to be enjoying themselves. Between them and the warm up guy (I've not seen a warm up woman so far) they'll keep you interested and amused.
If you're going to see something you enjoy anyway, you'll want them to get it right and will feel part of the whole thing rather than sit there stoney faced while they do a retake. It's usually funny when they make mistakes anyway.
I was going to give examples but maybe you had to be there.
