Right, it's not illegal for you to be in the pub providing you are not drinking alcohol. HOWEVER, many places have a policy of not allowing you to stay if you cannot produce ID because they get randomly checked by the police from time to time and don't want to take the risk that someone has been sneaking you booze because they have too much to lose.

Many places have challenge 21 or 25 which is a policy that states that the bar staff must ID if you look under 21 or 25, even if you clearly look over 18.

Best thing for you to get is a citizencard. You don't have to worry about having your birth certificate or passport as all they require is a signed photo of you signed by some like a policeman, lawyer, teacher, etc who has known you a long time and they are goverment approved.

Technically it would be my first adult one. I can't apply right now anyway because I need my birth certificate to enrol at uni and Student Finance still have my other one! Gah! >_<

The other good thing about the card is they are very speedy.

This thread has made me realise I left my passport in Scotland! Damn.

Any ID that has the official PASS hologram is acceptable by law.

You can tell I've worked in a bar....

I need a new one. Got into a bit of bother over my old one when coming back from holiday because the pic is very old and I look a lot different. Like stones different...

The absolute fastest way to get there, is to take a tube to Tottenham Court Road and walk down New Oxford Street. You know you're going the right way when you see Centre Point on your right.

There are several bus stops nearby with plenty of night buses throughout the evening.

EDIT: Do not get 'Oxford Street' and 'New Oxford Street' mixed up or you will walk for miles. When you come out of Tottenham Court Road tube, look for a road with the Dominion Theartre on it's left and Centre Point (a big concrete skyscraper with a fountain) on it's right.

DOUBLE EDIT: Look it up on Google Street View, you lazy bugger heads.

Dear God. Do not get people confused with directions from TCR at the moment. All of the building work going on around there will confuse anyone who's not uber familiar with the area!

Actually, I've just have a look on Google and due to aforementioned building work, the stretch of road the pub is on, is not even covered by Streetview. Helpful.

(Oh, my mistake, it is JUST on the very very edge of what's available - but crucially, the area between TCR and the pub is not.)

I've just booked my train and bed for this.

Alright, chill dude, I make an uncharacteristic gesture to help the non-London folks and I'm burned at the stake.

Okay, here ya go. Even monkeys could figure this out. Go to Google Maps, type in '42 Bloomsbury Way' and hit return. When the map appears, click on the 'Street View' option.

Use the the left and right arrows in the circle on the top left of the screen to have a look around. You will see a white-ish building on a corner, at the bottom of the building is a pub with a brown facade next to a shop called 'Crump'. That is the Old Crown.

If you keep going right, you will see a road with a concrete tower in the distance, that is Centre Point and the road is New Oxford Street. Just beyond Centre Point is Tottenham Court Road tube.
