Derren Brown: Predicting the Lottery Page 3

Now I haven't seen this I only saw the promo.

But it would make logical sense there is probably a video time delay of a few seconds (if not less), with something indicating what the number is, morse code device tapping his leg?

But the trick here is there MUST be a time delay.

I really do think his trick would be more elaborate than that. I don't think he used any camera tricks or cheated. Everything he said would've been real, I suppose it just depends on how you interpret it. Obviously I'm not saying he predicted the numbers, psychic style.

But I'm sticking with this show being a misdirection for something else.

I can't wait to find out how he did it.

Did anyone see the programme he did about the horses and betting? That was clever once he revealed it.

Oh and also, I saw one of his Trick or Treat ones the other day and he made a poor guy fall asleep in a photo booth and woke him up in Marrakesh without any explanation.

I find him very scary. :( He makes me feel like he is going to steal my mind Teary.....

There's the misdirection - that you'd think that. Occam's Razor dictates that the simplest explanation is the most likely. Putting the Lottery trick aside for a moment, is he really able to pull off elaborate tricks on members of the public? Is he really capable of guessing a stranger's phone number? Can he really remove a man's tie without them realising he's doing it?

Surely the more obvious explanation is that they're not strangers at all but stooges? We don't want to believe that because it robs what he does of its 'magic', but it's certainly the most likely explanation, isn't it?

I guess unless you're the one waking up in a photo booth in Marrakesh you'll never know...

I think for the sake of TV, they can use actors or "stooges". Because it's quicker to record. But I don't see why he wouldn't be a competent live performer. He's highly skilled/trained into his art. But at ground level, it's not much different from a baker turning flour into a loaf of bread. If only they had more showmanship.

As for his magic, and robbing people of that? What magic? This man seems to get off more so explaining how he did it, rather than the actual "trick" itself.

He'll want to lave people in ore, most likely with a screen caption, with dramatic or even funny music over the top. :D I'm predicting Derren Brown now. Ha! How does HE like it?

I genuinely don't know. This being YouTube, I didn't bother to read my own comment before or after posting it.

I used to have a thing for stuff like this when I was a kid and the unfortunate thing is as complex as they seem the result is normally very simple.

I'm not saying my prediction is correct but it does make sense and is easily pulled off.

I'm not saying the trick technique won't be simple. I'm just saying it will end with something else. Like...

Is this your card?

No?

CUT TO: A shot of the Empire Sate Building with a card projected onto it.

How about that one?

Yes!

Errr

Oh, right, I assume it's building up to something more awesome like he'll eat his own face or write "I had your mum" on the moon.

Put it this way, he's such a good trickster, he had me going online to check that the results that appeared on both his and the BBC's programme were indeed the numbers that were officially drawn that night. I wouldn't put mass hypnosis past the cheeky monkey. :D

Heh! That's what David Blaine did in South Park.
