I bought Sparks best of from the first few albums for one song - 'This town ain't big enough for the both of us' but loved most of them. You can see many of the bands they influenced in their sound, even today. Some seriously good guitar noise for 74-76 too. One of the bands that could be described as ahead of their times.

And they're one of the wittiest though slightly odd bands, lyric wise.

Agreed. Great band, and more proof that the best art comes from odd looking people.

I seem to be listening to 'Like A Prayer - Madonna' a lot lately. Great song though, but I hate anything else by 'Donna.

Brilliant! (And the best cover version of that song is by Dinosaur Jr, btw. A cover which was, in turn, covered as part of our regular set in the band I used to be in - the mighty 'Strontium Dog'.)
