I heard it was a really good horror flick. Can't wait to see it. Although I have NO friends in town nor a wife who enjoys a good horror flick so I'm on my own.

Tis very good; I imagine the American re-make which is currently in production will be much less so. But you never know.
Junebug. Fantastic little film about a gallery owner going to spend time with her husband's white trash family. Funny, warm, and humane. Only problem was that my copy was in black and white for some reason.

On DVD? Was it an NTSC format playing on a PAL-only player? (I've had that and you can only get it to play in b&w.)
The title of this film sounds somewhat familiar. (But that may be because that's what Juno's Dad called her is the movie Juno.) Sounds good though, I shall look it up, thanks.

Yes. I got it for a pound from Poundland. They actually have some not bad films, but they get snapped up pretty quick so you have to practically live in the shop. Yesterday I got Steven Sodeberg's Solaris from there.
I didn't like Juno. I thought it was trying too hard to be quirky.

You've got a point, there was something self-consciously offbeat about it. That said, it was well-written and acted, and made a nice change from the normal type of films we see from Hollywood.

Without trying to sound like a film snob, I like the fact that the films I tend to want to buy are mostly cheap due to lack of demand.

I do buy films from more places than just Poundland! There's the 99p Store too. And The Works sell them as well now.

That's the point I was making! It's amazing the really good little films at low prices you can find in the unlikeliest of places.

Same thing in Australia. There's a discount outlet chain called The Reject Shop that usually has cheap rubbish on DVD, but sometimes has cheap gems (well, gems to me, stuff like Minder, the Bless This House and George & Mildred movies, Danger Mouse, films like Merry Christmas Mister Lawrence, Man on the Moon, Carry Ons and the Doctor In... movies). I should spend more time in The Reject Shop but I'm afraid of being mistaken for stock.

That means the player's outputting S-video (separate chroma and luma) just set your TV scart to s-video and it will be in colour.
You da man!
Not really a recommendation, as it's a fairly ordinary film, but Clint Eastwood's Pink Cadillac does feature a young Jim Carrey as an Elvis impersonator (a deformed Elvis with hands but seemingly without arms).
Jim Carrey also shows up, with a more substantial role, in the fifth Dirty Harry movie, The Dead Pool. Also appearing in the film are Liam Neeson and Guns N' Roses. It's not a great film either.

Just watched it last night. It is a very good film, although I found myself curiously unmoved by the brutal concentration camp scenes.
