Calling All Science Nerds Page 3

Whaddya mean? Like, the particles would spell out "I know what you're doing" or summat?

I presume it just refers to the Schrodinger paradox that before you observe quantum particles they behave as waveform probabilities, but when (via experimentation) you observe their position, the probability waveform collapses and they behave as particles in precise locations again.

Anyway, back to that oh-so-conveniently sized and placed moon...

Anyway, back to that oh-so-conveniently sized and placed moon...

:D

Hey diddle diddle Scrodinger's cat had a fiddle
We all looked up at the moon
Tim said "it's quite strange"
The size, shape and range
I doubt there'll be a definitive answer soon

:D

I just find it a bit suspicious, that's all. And does anyone know why the moon doesn't spin at all?

It's called the Double Slit Experiment.

I went on the British Scientist Guide Forums & they were arguing about it as if it was 'my name is Klang'.

:O I saw that one in Amsterdam.

Because the sun shines in it's face otherwise.

Oh that. That one's easy. The same particle passes through both slits thus demonstrating that it has been in two places at once.

You and Nicole Kidman (and indeed any other A-list Hollywood actresses) are intimately connected at a quantum level. Therefore when you get a stiffy, Nicole Kidman automatically is affected. Similarly, if I get a stiffy, a woman in Runcorn automatically thinks up a new knob gag.

:D You wouldn't let it lie!

Have you got a reference for the astrophysical publication that explanation comes from? :)

I think it was something by The Soup Dragon?

Come on Boffins!
Let's crack this tonight.

If I recall correctly
Wasn't there a Quantum Physics experiment where they had to stop it because it seemed like the particles knew they were part of an experiment?

Are you talking about the Double Slit experiment? I know it sounds like an exciting porno but there's a very concise animated explanation of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEzRdZGYNvA

You got me excited then.

"But, Vic, how does it work?"

"I don't know... but it does!"

Hah, copied and pasted the wrong page. Uvava. This one is Eranu. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEzRdZGYNvA
