The Office revisited Page 5

I can't believe wardrobe let them go on with those 'nearly matching' maroon jumpers / shirts! Most distracting!

Aw, I thought they looked rather nice. Like Quality Street.

Gervais is incredibly interesting to watch. I watched him on The One Show earlier in the week. He brings out the lay-psychologist in me - he wears his psyche on his sleeve. Sometimes listening to him speak it's hard to believe he's not fourteen years old. He's the sort of person that a counsel would never let take the stand as a defendant in a court case.

The Office and the first series of Extras is his oeuvre. He will never better either of these shows.

I think him having lacked strong emotional bonds with either of his parents is significant.

No I definitely sensed a sort of hierarchy in place, perhaps not an intentional one, maybe Merchant is just a very polite bloke, in fact it's obvious that he's a lot less conceited than his partner. Was still mightily impressed by Gervais's passion and general sitcom knowledge though, it reminded me of the John Cleese interview for the FT celebration - his attention to every minor detail was astonishing.

I hope that Gervais has at least one more sitcom in him. Going by the amount of material he churns out, I reckon there's room for another classic.

I'm still waiting for When the Whistle Blows.

The wig, the glasses, the catchphrase... brilliant. Geek

It was a genuinely funny show, no matter how much of a piss-take it was.

I know that Stephen was genuinely proud of the "fish stew" gag in the Extras finale.

That's the first joke I remember when thinking about Extras. :)

Steve Merchant's the funny one.

Definitely.

Eh?

If there was any hierarchy, it's Merchant at the top. Did you see Ricky's body language when Stephen was speaking? It screamed of a repressed child desperate for attention and validation.

Despite getting things wrong?

I've never watched a single episode of The Office.

Does that make me bad?

Not at all. It's extremely overrated.
