Just watched District 9. What a great film.

Ooo! Going to watch it tomorrow! Can't wait!

Ok film nerds here's your chance. I have been asked by a lady friend to choose a film to go and see for us both. Yes, it's that difficult second date. She's pretty sharp and intelligent and she gives me the impression she wouldn't like the smash 'um up movies or anything too violent. I think something with a strong story line. I'm all yours my little buddies. Suggest away. If I score by the way I'll do your washing up for a week. I can't say fairer than that. :)

Roscoff,

I'd suggest the 'Time Traveller's Wife'. Haven't seen it yet, but loved the book, and all my girlfriends felt the same. It's a chick flick, but might earn you 'sensitive guy' brownie points if she liked the book.

There is a movie called 'Life Partner' in my local Cinema.
Maybe try that, show that you're into commitment.
If you change your mind then just take her to see 'He's not that into you' next week.
:D

Dorian Gray is out on the 11th.

But I'd go with AngieBaby as she's a woman, or Steve for the same reason. Whistling nnocently

Hmmm thanks Angiebaby. Good chance I might nod off in that one :( still I can always make a hole in the bottom of the pop corn and stick my penis through it. The ladieeeees always love that one :)

A film for all situations. Is there one entitled 'We've done all the postions can I sleep with your sister now?'

mhhh, salty popcorn!

I haven't seen it but I heard that one of the problem with the Time Travellers wife is that he first meets her when she's very young, so it kinda seems like grooming.

Nicolas Cage plays unhinged cop in "Bad Lieutenant"

Actor Nicolas Cage plays a deranged, drug-addicted detective in "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans," re-visiting the corrupt cop role made famous by Harvey Keitel 17 years ago.

Despite the similarity in title to Abel Ferrara's 1992 cult classic "Bad Lieutenant," and Ferrara's obvious displeasure at the idea of a remake, Cage and German director Werner Herzog say their movie is not connected.

"It would be unfair to compare the two movies," Cage told Reuters in an interview in Venice, where the picture is in competition at the annual film festival.

"Harvey's trajectory is really dealing with guilt and all of that, and perhaps fits more into that (Judeo-Christian) programme, so to me it's a completely different story and a different cop," added the 45-year-old, who won a best actor Oscar for playing an alcoholic in "Leaving Las Vegas."

"This is a New Orleans cop, it takes place in New Orleans, it's Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, it's not Bad Lieutenant."

Ferrara has criticised the idea of a remake, and was quoted in the media as saying: "I wish these people die in hell."

Although I thought the original was a bit overrated, I like the sound of Ferrara. :D

Oh dear. That it would seems would be the obvious one but I might just go for something she wouldn't normally choose but might surprise her. I think Hurt Locker which is tense thriller set in the Middle East might work. But then again no? I hear Rocco Sifreddi's Anal Adventures 16 is also very good though. What does a boy do? Well 45 year old man. You'd think I'd know women by now. But I don't Eh?

500 Days Of Summer is supposed to be good.

And Funny People, you know us girls like a guy that can make us laugh.

Don't be tempted by the Soloist, even though it's got Robert Downey Jnr and Jamie Fox, it's shite.

I take it that's a direct quote from your column in The Times? :)

Thanks all for your suggestions by the way. Despite my flippant exterior I do appreciate your efforts :) Now. Anybody know a good loan shark?

yeah, going to the movies is sooo expensive these days when you factor in the popcorn, drink etc. I've got an unlimited card with cineworld which works out to being a saving if you go more than twice a month, it works out well as I see some films that I'd never buy a ticket, which I've enjoyed, but it also means Mr Baby has to watch some dross with me too.
