Peep Show - Series 6 Page 7

Disagree. I think series 3 & 4 were far stronger than series 1 & 2. And series 5 was still stronger than series 1. I'm no clairvoyant so I find it difficult to predict what series 6 will be like.

Stronger in what way?

Stronger in what way?

Well, weaker in what way?

Firstly I just found them funnier. I think the writers and actors really knew the two main characters by series 3 and Jeremy and Mark behaved more consistently in terms of their actions and inactions. They also explored their backgrounds and emotional conflicts with good results. The plots became rather more convincing and interesting. I also think on the production side the direction improved. Part of the overall reason I suppose I feel the show became stronger is that as a viewer the characters' sitcom world had been well established by then. I also think that by series 3 Bain & Armstrong were able to write more ambitiously. This included writing more interestingly for other characters.

So you think the plot of killing someone's dog and barbecuing it represents plot improvement? I felt that they started to look further outside their flat and the workplace so it lost some of the claustrophobic element that the tensions between Mark and Jeremy previously arose from. I need to watch them back again to have full confidence in what I'm saying, but I remember laughing more from the earlier series.
:)

In the context of it being a sitcom, yep. :) (Though I thought that was the weakest episode of series 4, despite containing some lovely lines.)

Well, it was certainly, to me, one of the funniest bits in the show's run.

That was the point where I felt they'd lost their touch and I didn't look forward to the knew episodes so much after that.

I'd say Peep Show has managed to remain consitantly funny. Although it is possibly a bit more high profile this time round, I can't see that affecting the production of it too much. I'm sure it's going to be a great series!

I agree that 'the plot of killing someone's dog and barbecuing it' was stretching it a bit, but god, it was worth it to watch Jeremy eat that dog!

"He's brought a dead dog into my pitch, the stupid bastard!"

I agree, I really like it, it's one of my favourite comedies. I just feel it's become less good, not more bad. You know what I mean 'arry?

Eating the dog is the only Peep Show scene I recall properly laughing-out-loud at.

Yeah and they didn't barbeque it, they tried to burn it to get rid of the evidence and only got halfway.

They tried to pass it off that they had a barbecue. It's very boring when people are overly pedantic.
