Nice places to live Page 2

4-bedroom house with self-contained granny-annexe, set in half-acre, 150 mtrs from the sea, panoramic countryside views and situated at the end of a half-mile private road.

A nice place to live? Yes, I wouldn't change a thing.

Notice that a lot of the clebs on Cribs are hopelessly needy showy-offs, who make their personal lives a misery in order to feel they have succeeded.

Yes, how terribly sad they are with their giant mansions, garages full of top of the line motors and stripper poles in their massive bedrooms where they have non-stop orgies with flexible young backing dancers. I pity them.

As someone of the British persuasion, I think everyone should be as small, unambitious and miserable as me.

I used to live smack on the beach. You went out the door and there it was. Miss being able to do that.

I would love to live Downtown Ottawa along the canal in one of those heritage homes. Having a beer on a deck watching other people get fit and in the winter sit and watch people skate down the longest skating rink in the world. A walk away from downtown but quite enough because it is just off the major roads.
Alas the homes are close to or over a million.

People need to be more specific about place names. Most people want a mansion with a sex dungeon, you've got to tell me where you would like it to be.
:)

Ooh, that sounds fun, Curt! I like riverside/canalside houses, with really long gardens that finish at the water. Yum.

Next to the dole office, so I could pop next door to sign on.*

Yea exactly. The 'National Capital Commission' keeps that area pristine with new flowers and in May it's Tulip gardens covering the entire canal and bicycle path.

Bad pictures but you get the idea.
And the winter:

Ooooooooooooh!
Wintery goodness!

Reminds me of Charlie Brown for some reason...

I'd quite like to live in the New Forest, Cirencester or Cambridge.

Laughing out loud

We have lots of pretty canals here, I love it. It feels all lovely and British, walking along them on a warm summers day.

Are any of your locks still manually operated still? I think the majority of Ottawa's are done by hand still.

That's the one nearest the the Parliament:

And you can see the cranks that are still used. There is no other way to work these canals.

I'd love to live in a small village in the Derbyshire countryside called Edale, pretty much a hamlet but a beautiful bit of countryside.
