Welcome to the BCG
Hi Mark P,

Is that the same Beyond Software behind Mike Singleton's "Doomdark" series for Spectrum and C64?
I was mainly self-employed or working for start-ups during most of what passed for my career in the industry, so my CV isn't that impressive. My active programming years were 1988-1996, when I burned out. Publishers were CRL, D&H Games (closed down by the taxman when the boss was found to have defrauded them... over 14 times!), Caspian Software ("Rock'n'Roll Clams", my only self-designed, self-programmed and even self-artworked game), and the Amiga port of Eidos' "Championship Manager 2"—a true project from hell that the boss thought would take just six weeks, but ended up dragging on for 15 months, giving me a nervous breakdown, and burning me out as a programmer. (Who me? Bitter? Cynical? Nah!)
I eventually switched to writing work after that last gig and wrote the manual for Criterion's "Renderware Graphics" tools; the company was later bought by EA. More recently, I wrote a tutorial for Unity Technologies' eponymous game-creation tool.
And I haven't even mentioned the family business which took five long years to crash and burn and nearly took the family with it.
So... plenty of material there to draw upon!
Writing is therapy for me. God knows I need it!
Howdy.
