Great show with some severely cringe worthy material. I just watched the first season for the first time. I'm glad I watched it without my wife she haaaaaaaates cringe comedy.
Peep Show - Series 6 Page 6
Not read the thread. Just wanted to mention that I love Peep Show. You know, just in case you were wondering.
The new series starts on 18th September, according to Sam Bain's Twitter.
Quote: Aaron @ August 18 2009, 12:16 PM BSTSurely those are coincidences, not contradictions?
Indeed. That is what the producers said and what I meant to write but something got lost between my brain and the keyboard.
Quote: Tim Walker @ August 19 2009, 11:29 AM BSTThe coincidence that the girl in a Croydon shoe shop that Mark falls for is attending his and Jez's old university is a bit much, I agree.
However, it is a good episode and an important one. By taking Mark and Jeremy back to Dartford it adds not only to their back-story (demonstrating how these two misfits would have got together as friends in the first place), but also shows how far/how little they have come from student days.
Mark was always a coward, doing a degree his father wanted him to do, rather than something he had a passion for. Returning to Dartford shows Mark has (slightly) matured to the point that you feel sorry when he actually has to go back to "real life" at the end. He could now get a girl, be a success at history etc... but it's all too late. It's quite poignant. What is shown by Jeremy, however, is that he was a feckless deluded dreamer then and he's not learnt much since, other than gaining a vague degree of self-awareness that life doesn't work out the way you planned.
It's not the funniest episode, but it serves its purpose well.
Yeah good summary.
On the DVD the writers admit the plot is a bit forced but if you sort of ignore that you get a funny episode that like you said adds a bit of backstory.
I also think it was one of the more inventive ways they have come up with to humiliate Mark.
I'm so excited about the new series of Peep Show. Not long now!

I think the celebrity status of all concerned has risen a lot since the last series, so I wonder if that will alter the show at all?
Don't see any reason at all why it should.
Seeing as after series two the quality has gradually diminished I can't see this series being great. I'm not saying they've ever been bad, just less funny than the level they achieved in their early days (law of diminishing returns and all that). But I'm sure there will be some stand out funny moments. I think Mitchell and Webb becoming famous only really influences things in terms of how we think of them as opposed to influencing their own 'styles' or acting. Bla bla bla, that's me done.
Disagree. I think series 3 & 4 were far stronger than series 1 & 2. And series 5 was still stronger than series 1. I'm no clairvoyant so I find it difficult to predict what series 6 will be like.
My concern is that being involved a lot of things, not just work but celebing around, certain members might be spreading themselves thinly. I suppose that in the face of such high expectations, it's my way of rationalising my fear of disappointment.
I must say though, I don't think it has gradually gone down hill, in fact I think it's been remarkably consistent.
Well, although they have had other projects on, most importantly the writers, producers and director haven't been enjoying a celebrity status lifestyle, which is the most important thing in maintaining the quality of a show like this.

Well, Mitchell And Webb don't write it, so that will hardly be a problem.
EDIT: Walker was too fast for me.

Disagree.
