Band Split - Song

To the tune of WONDERWALL by OASIS

Today is finally the day
That Oasis said that the tales were true.
One row, and Noel threw in the towel
Saying that his time with them was through.
I don't believe that Liam even
Had the bloody flu
The lying cow

Last week the word was on the street
That our Noel had said he wanted out
But sure, I've heard that tale before
Still, I bought a ticket from a tout
I don't believe that anybody there
Was quite as blue as I am now

They told us that Li-am had lar-ryn-gi-tis
Not that him and bro' were backstage fighters
Still it's been a long time since they
Got to number 2
They'd forgotten how

Because maybe
They'd got a bit tired and lazy
And after all
Blur were just as cool

I read today that Noel had said
"Liam's rude and he's well violent too
On tour he kicked me to the floor.
I wear these shades because I'm black and blue.
When I was young I'd take this shit
But now I'm forty-two
I'm too old now"

And now Noel's gone it really is a pity
Still, at least he can go watch Man City
Now's the best time ever to support the team in blue
With their new cash cow

And maybe
They'd got a bit tired and lazy
And after all
Blur were much more cool

I think it's the right story for a parody song but I'm afraid the execution doesn't work for me. The Blur being cool thing doesn't fit.

Ta Badge, didn't think it was working overall and was a bit inconsistent, but was hoping there were parts that did. Suppose brawl rhymes, but need more gags anyway.

Comical songs are always a bit twee in my opinion.

Perhaps a bit gag liite, but overall pretty good. Bit concerned about whether the hook is close enough to the original.

gag liite?? is that another way of saying it's just not funny?

No, it saying it is not as funny as it could be.

I will agree with that.
