No sitcom that I'm aware of. Not sure about comedy dramas though. I would have thought it's possible, but not seen any myself. If you're thinking about writing one though, just go ahead.

Well... I've been giving it some thought but I have real trouble writing scripts. Not because of the technical requirements/formatting but because of the idea that a script, unlike a novel, is a transitional tool.
It's not like settings have been repeated numerous times in the past, is it?
My Family, Bless This House, George & Mildred, Terry & June, My Hero, The Royle Family, George & The Dragon, etc etc etc.
Open All Hours, Are You Being Served?, Pinwright's Progress, Hardware.
And so on and so forth.
True... and in a way, the common or popular setting is what makes a sitcom, I guess.
It's nice to see something different once in a while though. I'd like to approach this in a completely new way...
I vaguely remember a drama about a funfair, fairly dark I think.
I can imagine a cheap version of a sitcom in a theme park where all you ever see are the turnstiles, staff room and managers office!
That Blackpool thing? With Kris Marshall?
Darren, don't worry about it. Pretty much everything has been done by now. At the end of the day, it's the actual writing that makes the show. As long as it's funny, who gives a f**k?!

OK... I'm going to give this some more thought. I'll post some themes and ideas here when I think I've got something worthwhile... and then you guys can tear it apart.

Funland by Jeremy Dyson, but it wasn't really set in a theme park just around Blackpool.
Blackpool is the musicial drama though.

ooo good thinking Darren, but there must be a reason for this? As Frankie says "turnstiles, staff room and managers office!" is all I can imagine would be able to be.
Just a thought, maybe there hasn't been one, because it used as a device when a sitcom has a feature length episode, so maybe there's not too many gags in it, for an entire run?
But as we all know, sitcom is about character and the funnaay, so go young Darren, go write that sitcom dude!
