Will do!
(I just hope Richard Morgan isn't a diabolical alter-ego of one Marc Pierson!)

Quote: chipolata @ August 26 2009, 10:38 AM BSTAnd of course Play It Again Sam was excellent. Although based on a stage play and one of the few Allen films not directed by Allen. And not noir either.
And he also did that expressionist film Shadows and Fog, which a lot of people didn't like but I thought it was very funny and a pity he didn't pursue that sort of role further such as comedic take on Kafka's Joseph K in the Trial.

Has there been a good Kafka satire?
Surprisingly I can't think of any. As mentioned Woody Allen would make a great comedy Kafka character but I don' think this is one for Will Ferrel or the Wayan Brothers.
Not sure if it's a spoof of the famous Czech miserablist but good call from Peter Capaldi for calling his short film 'Franz Kafka- It's a Wonderful Life'.

The Onion's new multimedia news thing did a story on Kafka Airport being voted the world's worst airport. Good satire? Perhaps.

Similar to Play it Again Sam, it's also from a short play wot he wrote. And I love Shadows and Fog too.

Quote: Marc P @ August 24 2009, 11:53 AM BSTThere are sub genres within noir and I would posit the private dick ones have some humour in them.
Agreed. The Slaggs' greatest love is writing the occasional comedy Noir. We should really stick to that genre because it's where we've attracted 90% of the interest in us. (That's 90% of tiny, BTW.)
OK, then.
Give me the list of top 10 Must See film noirs from the classical period.
