I have never eaten a jellied eel for example although I might look like I recently have.

Quote: catskillz @ August 24 2009, 9:38 PM BSTCarla Lane wrote Butterflies, which was probably set in the South East.
It was also shit.

You look like you've recently eaten a peasant.
Why would anyone eat a jellied eel? They're just horrible, where as Japanese stylee eels are ace.

It was actually one of the greatest sitcoms ever written. Not amazingly funny but a piece of brilliant poetry.

Even the clips on Britain's greatest comedy shows make me want to eat my own head out of boredom. Carla Lane is like that art made from elephant dung; it may be venerated, it may win awards, people may ramble on about it. But in the end it's shit and it stinks and people who like it like shit.
I hate Carla Lane I hope she gets eaten by her rescue animals.

That's how she brilliantly portrayed the housewife experience.
She doesn't need your love she is a genius and will be recognised when she dies not only by going to heaven for saving animals but also her work will be watched by other genetations who will see she is the sitcom equivlant of Shakespeare, though Bread was a bit shit.

A bit over rated? Popular with the unimaginative?
And of course compulsory for bored school kids who will hate it so much they'll refuse to learn to read and set their pit bulls on people.

Sit, yeah, it was alright. Com, worse than Jam & Jerusalem.

I concur!

Becuase the lines were just so clever and true. I guess she got carried away with making it quite prosey and I accpet it isn't to everyone's taste however for those who are into that type of comedy it is amazing. Though, I must admit I have stopped writing on every synposis I send to a production company that I want to be a modern day Carla Lane- it probably wasn't doing my unfunny scripts any favours.
Probably wasn't doing your funny ones much good either.
