Sorry Lee, sci-fi is bottom of my list when choosing films. Actioners with guns, explosions etc. is next bottom.

:O

I could not be more opposite in my film tastes. Science Fiction and actioners are top of my list. Bottom of the list are period romantic dramas, those crappy spoof movies (Meet the Spartans, Dance Flick, etc) and worst of all, worthy Ken Loach / Mike Leigh poo-fests featuring poor Northern folk having their kids taken away. *shudders*

District 9 does look good, so thanks for the recommendation Lee.

Looking forward to seeing this at some point in the future.

I saw it last week and loved it. It's got to be one of the best films of the year in my books.
I used to hate sci-fi when I was a kid (save Star Wars I was obsessed), but then I stopped being a snot nosed skate border kid and grew a brain. I've come to that conclusion, people who dislike sci fi, are usually people who are apposed to thinking while watching a film or television show.

Much as I enjoyed District 9, I saw Moon last night and it kicked my balls over my head and scored a goal in my arsehole. Great year for sci-fi so far.

It's generally women and people over 50 that won't watch sci-fi. My mother-in-law frustrates me so f**king much - she's here for a week and anything remotely "unrealistic" can't be viewed on the telly. Of course by "realistic" she means Coronation Street. Rolling eyes

Punch her in the face.

Job done.

Some kind of utopian fantasy.

Yeah, that attitude bothers me too. People who can watch something as otherworldly as Friends yet not be able to stand five minutes of Blade Runner are a breed unto their own.

We call them mutants, and they shall be the first to be sacrificed.
