Gay and funny? Page 2

Good girl Mike.

Let the floodgates open.

Quel déluge!

Are any of our Gay BSG members able to contribute?

I am asexual. Not always voluntarily either.

"What a sexual dynamo?"

"What a sexual dynamo?"

It's an 'I dunno' not a dynamo.

Does that mean some times you look down and you willy is not there! :O

Laughing out loud re: Frankie

Apologies to Tom Salinsky, but I'll give this opportunity a miss. It's not that I'm a prima donna and I'm all up for producers offering crit on the work but the condition of 'completely rewriting as they see fit' (paraphrased) is way too loose.

Yes, you can argue that a TV script editor may do this but not on the suggested wholesale scale that the wording implies here. Plus this ain't TV and the other stage shows I've been associated with, manage edits in conjunction with the writer.

If we reject your material, then all rights revert back to you.

AJP should know this but I thought the rights always remain with the writer until a contract is signed. If it's taken that the act of submission signs over rights then it needs to be stated. Only permission is mentioned. Is permission the same as rights?

Plus rights don't 'revert back'. The word 'back' is redundant because the notion of 'returning back to' is contained within the meaning of the word 'revert'

Sorry for being picky today, Tom. I should be happy but I'm hot and sweaty.

It's one way of getting material performed but unless it's for an established well-known show, I would want to be involved with the performers in writing/rewriting the material, otherwise it's a bit hit and miss. You could end up getting a credit/mention for a piece of work that you the (original) writer doesn't find funny anymore! Which would be a bit odd!

As it is I have only one Gay themed sketch and I have it in reserve for when the JM's have a day filming 'shorts' so I can't help out on this one.

SlagA they are basically saying that they will be licensed the material to use as they stated. The author always retains the rights and, like you said, an agreement is not enforceable in law unless its signed or there has been consideration (don't ask).

But if you're getting paid or laid i'd go along with it :D

I knew I could rely on you for that.
:)

I dont thnk I could do a gay scene without getting myself turned on.

It's not that I'm a prima donna

Then I hope I never meet a real one... ;-)

This possibility is by no means excluded. First I want to see who can write funny material to this brief, and what sort of style is emerging. I have taken no further decisions than that.

Cheers

Tom

You charmer. :P Yep, I had a cranky day. Despite having a good day writing, I was a little grouchy. Odd when that happens, you'd think I'd be the other way around. So apologies. Although your opening T&Cs do give a different impression re: the editing and rewriting stage than your latest response which sounds much more flexible.
