Police Press Conference

Potentially the most potentially offensive sketch I've posted here.

*

INT. POLICE PRESS CONFERENCE. DAY.

AN INSPECTOR ADDRESSES THE GATHERED REPORTERS.

INSPECTOR:
…and obviously we take all missing persons cases very seriously indeed, especially on this scale. And now, a brief statement from the family.

REVEAL: ADOLF HITLER AND JOSEPH GOEBBELS, BOTH WEEPING, BRANDISHING HANDKERCHIEFS, ARE SEATED AT THE SAME TABLE.

HITLER:
Thank you. Please. I just want to ask everyone at home, watching this, have you seen our Jews? Please… please, return our Jews. They have done nothing wrong. We just want them back home safe. Please, if you've seen them, call the police. We just want our Jews back…

HITLER BREAKS DOWN IN TEARS. GOEBBELS COMFORTS HIM.

CUT TO:

INT. SUBURBAN LIVING ROOM. DAY.

A COUPLE IS WATCHING THE PRESS CONFERENCE ON TV.

MAN:
I bet he did it.

END

It's a funny idea. I don't think you even need the living room scene. As an extra visual joke you could have Goebbels starting to read out the names from a long roll of paper which stretches out of sight.

Interesting. For me, the couple in the living room was the whole point of the joke. You know, how people watch these types of press conferences and go "Oh, the dad did it, look at him..." and the psychologist quacks analyse their body language with the benefit of hindsight after the conviction, etc...

Brilliant.

Great idea, quite a clever twist really, well thought.

Agree that the living room scene makes it.

Aah now that is clever very good, but I'd start off with a list f Jewish names and then go into the press conference.

I like it but it's clever enough not to actually say Jews.

But top stuff.

Very clever - but as you say highly offensive and therefore unlikely to get broadcast anywhere.

I like Sooty's take on it with the Jewish names, adds another layer to the thought process.

And the living room scene needs to stay.

Yeah agree, the living room scene is the point of the joke, good idea, sooty's change improves it. Nice work! Don't think it'll be too popular though...

Really? But this is for my CBeebies file.

Wellthat's the obvious market!

Laughing out loud
Very clever and very funny.
