*clears throat*
I'd love to be able to head to the pub and get a couple of pints, but I can't afford it either. Of course, not being actually employed right now doesn't help. Nor does planning on moving to London in the near future. And the knowledge that I have no real prospects so can't spend what savings I do have as I know I won't be able to replace them. But the point stands. It's so thoroughly depressing.
We're all doooomed!
Of course, by 'pub' I mean DVD price checker site. And by 'pints' I mean DVDs.
I have DVDs on tap
My addiction requires cases and sleeves, unfortunately.
I haven't been able to go anywhere. I had a half glass of wine earlier. That was nice. I have a low alcohol tolerance. So I get good value
I probably pay about £3 per pint here. Lately I've been drinking beer on the sidewalk with my neighbors instead of going to the pub. Much cheaper and just as social ...
Just discovered a nice beer store here in Oklahoma City. Pricey, but they have a lot of stuff I can't find in Texas. I'm currently drinking a Thwaites Shuttle.

I'm one of those G-o-M.
Quote: Jack Massey @ August 14 2009, 11:04 PM BSTWho on this forum can still afford to go out to the pub on a regular basis at the weekend. I just can't afford it anymore. It's that long I can't remember when I've gone out to the pub at the weekend.
You don't need to stay in just because the pub's too expensive.
There's more to life than 'pub'.
Anyone know how much tax is on a pint?

Ahh King of the Hill - no doubt there's a thread somewhere but I loved that show. Haven't seen it in ages.
Yep yep yep.

Not enough.
I rarely drink at home. I go pubbing once a week or so and spend around £15/visit. I know many people who 'can't afford the pub', yet spend more than £15 per week buying alcohol at supermarkets for home consumption.
I'd rather spend my £15 in the pub for a variety of good reasons.
Quote: Steve Sunshine @ August 15 2009, 12:30 AM BSTI'll go for a bottle of wine instead to save a bob or two.
British sherry is another option. Or for those on a real economy drive, boot polish.
Yes, I can still afford it. I'm not sure why people moan about beer prices going up by 30-40p. Even if you manage to down 10 pints a night, that's only an extra £4.00.
