It'll look a bit better when we've relaunched and I've had time to implement a more sophisticated 'hide' method.

Cheers. ;)

So are posters only writing for lurkers? That seems a bit of a strange concept.

No, not at all. But this is a comedy site, and the discussion of comedy is being overrun by inane banter that is distracting from its purpose. Think of the two comedy forums as the 'business' end of the site, and this one as the community, socialising room if it helps.

We did ask people politely to stay on topic in those forums, but as very few people took any notice (I was guilty of drifting OT myself), this is the outcome. Perhaps we've been too laid back in our running of the board, and thus few people take our requests seriously enough?

And then when we are more forceful, they flounce off in a big strop... Unimpressed

Has the chipster been banned for this then... or suspended?

Just suspended, and not for off topic posting.

I see. I think it's going to be really tough to rigidly stay on topic though and still have a discussion. I can see the threads just ending up as a series of opinions with no interactions. Or maybe that's the intention?

If it was for the negative critquing of my novel which he hasn't read I whole heartedly approve!

I agree.

Na on serious note though I don't think it's that bigger deal really. Just Chit Chat in the general bit and opinions and stuff in the comedy bits. :)

Is your avatar the cover?

I know. It is difficult, and I'm guilty of veering off topic quite a bit. The ultimate intention is not to just have a list of opinions, but to have opinion and undistracted discussion.

Ultimately, I suppose it's part of a longer gameplan for the survival of the site. The more we can discuss the comedies themselves, the more value we have to producers, writers, other fans, etc. And the more value we have to them, the more we're likely to get interest from sponsors, and from companies wishing to buy data from us (as an example, numerous DVD companies already come to us for an idea of what is likely to sell, and what they shouldn't even bother going near). Then the site may be able to pay for itself rather than just be funded from me and Mark's pockets.

Excerise - its got to be bad for you.

Two trips to the gym and now I can't lift my arms above my chest - shoulders, dumbells, pride and not being quite as strong as I was ten years ago.

How do I get rid of latic acid in the fella's?

I love that ache-y feeling after exercising, but maybe I'm a bit weird. It'll only get better. :)

I have no issue with the control over posts thing. As long as people can freely post whatever in general, I think that's fine. I can see the downside of going off topic and at the end of the day, it's Mark and Aaron's baby.

IT'S ONLY A WEBSITE :)
