Simple.
Because they didn't know they had a claim untill the man came knocking.
They don't actually tell the people who has died ( unless it is a close relation).
Becuase of that as most of these people haven't even heard of the person who has died becuase it is a 1st cousin once removed or something. Then they don't stand a chance of looking at the hundreds of names on the government list and working out which one it is that they are related to.
The other reason is if you did go it alone - you would need a solicitor to do the paperwork for you. ANd then you find out you have only got a 10th share of 5 grand and the solicitor has cost you £450 anyway!
Of course they don't sign up everyone, but an office in London and all those staff - it clearly pays its way.
Only at the end of the programme yesterday, the lady in the shoe shop in Blackpool, decided not to put in a separate claim.
But, yes, I conced the point. The company obviously didn't do too bad out of it at all. Wish they'd come looking for me.
