Is Barrack gonna beat 4 years? Page 3

Except I can't imagine Republican TV - aka Fox - getting behind Hilary. And they pretty much dictate who gets the GOP nomination.

That is absolutely untrue. But believe it if it makes you feel better.

A lot of this hysterical heckling against Obama and his allies that make the news headlines (especially on Fox) looks utterly contrived and orchestrated.

there are a lot of lies and distortions out there and some of them are coming from the White House.

You really think somebody Fox don't like could get the GOP nomination?

Fox is the Left's bogey man just like the NY Times is the Right's. But they don't decide the nominee; the people do. People are not single-party/issue voters, despite what politicians and pundits would like you to believe. Obama's sinking approval ratings can not be blamed on Republicans and Fox alone. Plenty of people who voted for him are very concerned about his spending and government-growing policies. He won't be able to blame Bush and Fox when the election campaign gears up in 2011, but so far it seems to be the only card he knows how to play with any success.

And the people who vote for the GOP nomination are the type who watch Fox. It seems to speak directly to Republican grassroots supporters. In the same way as here the Daily Mail speaks directly to core Conservative supporters.

As for blaming Obamas woes on Fox, far from it. The shine was always destined to come off him. Fox is just a rather silly nasty minded television station with a lot of hysterical talking heads that tend to make America look rather foolish.

39% of Fox news viewers are Republicans. That means that almost two thirds are Dems or independents.

And those 39% invariably make the most noise. Usually at community meetings. Unimpressed

If I was a sane right of centre Republican I would not be watching Fox but if you are of a liberal or left wing persuasion it is hilarious addictive car crash TV; a bit like Melanie Philips or Richard Litteljohn on Crystal Meth.

I still follow US politics, having lived there a long while, and this healthcare "debate" is the most batshit thing I've seen in a decade.

The level of wilful ignorance is atonishing, terrifying.

This is pretty funny though, Investor's Business Daily article:

http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=333933006516877

"People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless."

Easy mistake. He does have an American accent.

It serves Obama's cause to concentrate on ludicrous stuff like Hawking instead of the difficult questions like "How are we going to pay for this program?"

Fox news is the best thing that happened to the Democrats.

They have corrected their Stephen Hawking error although it doesn't make teh article any less amusing-

"The British have succeeded in putting a price tag on human life, as we are about to."

It's the best thing to happen to entertainment. Beck et al are nothing if not entertaining.

I've stayed out of this but I would like to speak up.

Obama does seem like a good guy who really does want change, then again we've seen a lot of this crap before with politicians.

I knew the honeymoon period wouldn't last long and I think he will have a tough time, because he has tough decisions many of which won't be popular - he can either done one of two things when it comes to taxs really.

keep them the same or increase them - the only way he can keep them the same is to take money from another sector (military maybe? God forbid!).

I love you too Chip...

I do tend to break it down to child like levels, but at the end of the day I'm dead on the money.

It is ironic that the people complaining about how much health care will cost are the exact same ones happy to see gazillions frittered away on not one but TWO pointless wars, neither of which have achieved anything.
