But they'd all be conditioned to avoid men such as yourself. You'd have to become a rapist. Then you'd be locked up, sterilised...

Not for the first time, you're confusing me with my popular BCG character known as "chipolata".

Anyway. The sentences were probably too lenient (certainly for the boyfriend), and as has been stated, their naming served no real purpose other than to cost the taxpayer millions upon their eventual release. However, the emotive specifics of the case are yet again brining out objective and cohorent-vacuum Sun mentality. They shouldn't be treated any differently from any other convicted persons.

I don't credit you as that good an actor.

Yes, it's strange how they somehow held her partially responsible for his death? It's political correctness gone mad.

I'm not saying she shouldn't be in prison, as neglect is also a form of abuse. I just thought most of the physical abuse came from the two sadistic brothers. Apparently they also beat up their own Grandmother, and locked her in a cupboard.

What catskillz said.

Without the full court transcript this debate is a bit speculative as to how culpable the mother was in the abuse.

In my tiny little mind, there is a slight differention from someone being locked up for having a dodgy tax disc or not paying their TV License and baby murderers.

I'm wacky that way.

I didn't think I needed to explicitly point out that I meant other murderers and abusers specifically. Unimpressed

Yes, it's getting beyond a joke the number of people being locked up for dodgy tax disks.

It's not acting, it's writing. Unimpressed

Then you've obviously overestimated me, I'm sure you won't make that mistake again.

Personally, I'm glad it's brought out all of these emotive responses. I don't want to live in a society that isn't shocked and outraged by such crimes.

Hope so. I was caught out without TV license fee...we'd accidentally cancelled that particular direct debit and we were without a license for ONE month before the officer came-a-knocking. We set up a another direct debit immediately while he was here. That was a few months ago and last week we got a f**king court date, at which we could be fined up to a grand. I tell you, my luck at the moment... Angry

almost totally ineffective drain on the taxpayer,

It's such a shame that;
"Family holds together with help from social services,"

or

"Abused child succefully fostered goes to university,"

don't make good headlines. Social services get it right most of the time, it's just most of the work they do is dull and not tabloid friendly.

I'd rather live in one that has the ability to be objective and rational. Just wait until I'm world king!

How ever good the BBC maybe the license fee is a deeply dubious poll tax.

Same with, well, anything though. MPs, local councillors, doctors, nurses, teachers, emergency services. What they are perceived to be 'supposed' to be doing doesn't elicit interest.

Perhaps surprisingly for a Tory, I'm in total support of the licence fee, and of the BBC receiving 100% of it.

Glad to hear you supporting Gordon Brown and New Labour. Remarkably mature of you.
