I'm a Londoner, but my Mums from Yorkshire and my wifes from Scotland.
So I can speak a bit of Northern, and understand most of it if they speak slowly & correctly.
Is there a North South divide? I don't think so.
The only thing I've noticed is that people from the north tend to like Two Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps, but people in the south have a slightly more sophisticated sense of humour and prefer Fawlty Towers.
Well with such scientific research who am I to argue?
Your argument falls down when you realise Aaron, who inreasingly seems to be a comedy stereotype of a middle class Southerner, loves Two Pints of Lager where as I as a Manc hate it.
I do like the fact that because you know people from Yorkshire and Scotland you can speak "Northern".
Considering the "South" covers Cockneys and people from Devon I don't think you can poke fun at northern accents me old china plate.
Saying that not all southerners are bad.
I had a teacher at school from down South and when he wasn't eating jellied eels, singing Chas and Dave or voting for Boris bloody Johnson as Mayor he was alright.
