In reference to a French saying "I will remember, that born under the lily,I grow under the rose" which are the two flowers of the French and the English.
It is the VERY bitter reminder to Quebecers that the "Canadian Nation" (the French one) was never built because the English won the war over this country.
I hear them say it a lot around the anniversary of the "Battle for the Plains of Abraham" (aka the battle of Quebec).
