I learnt a lot about grammar from reading up about various punctuation devices on wikipedia.
As said, I think SootyJ perhaps rushes his pieces. I suspect that as soon as you have an idea you start writing it direct into a 'New Topic' section on BSG, but this is purely speculation on my part.

yeah, good writing is rewriting
The best book on grammar is "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" (with a picture of a panda with a gun). Buy this and it will sort out all your grammar problems for good, trust me, it sorts your head out goddammitt!!!
I had trouble with grammar for a while.
I've heard it's good but I hate the author so much, perhaps I'll steal a copy.
